I almost opted last week to see "Zookeeper" rather than "Horrible Bosses" because of a review I had read on both in our local newspaper. As I've said.....loved "Horrible Bosses" so I was so excited to see this movie that this critic deemed better.
Thank God I saw "Horrible Bosses" first or, I would have chalked it up to one I would maybe catch on TV.
"Zookeeper" had so much promise. Kevin James is a lovable guy and, who doesn't like the voices of Sylvester Stallone, Cher, Don Rickles.....et al. We've enjoyed listening to animals talk since the first cartoon was ever shown. We've loved film where animals spoke to humans since "Mr. Ed". And, once again, in "Zookeeper", the non-humans stole the show.
Problem was all the highlights were seen in the trailer. Once you had seen them there was little to keep your interest or, even care about what was to happen next. Keep up the good work Mr. James and, you will find the right director for your talents.

CRAZY STUPID LOVE
I for one make it a point to see movies that star my favorite actors, promise some laughs and, a good love story. When the actors are Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore and, Emma Stone with some Marissa Tomei and Kevin Bacon thrown in, I feel that no matter what the reviews say, it is worth a watch.
Such is the case with CRAZY STUPID LOVE. Most of the reviews I had read were lukewarm at best. From the trailers you could easily sum up that Steve Carell is dumped by wife Julianne Moore. He befriends Ryan Gosling, a smooth lounge lizard who takes him under his wing. Meanwhile Gosling second guesses his lifestyle when he meets Stone. I figured that the boys would get the girls in the end with some laughs along the way.
That's exactly what it was. When have you ever seen a romantic comedy without a happy ending? The actors delivered as always with an exceptional supporting cast. What I didn't expect were some jaw dropping twists in the story.
CRAZY STUPID LOVE lasted a quick 1 hr. and 47 minutes. Well worth the time and money. I could easily watch it again.
