ONE FOR THE MONEY

When I started reading the books about Stephanie Plum over ten years ago I knew that someday there would be a movie.  Back then my fantasy cast was Sandra Bullock as Stephanie, Cloris Leachman as Grandma and Queen Latifah as Lula.  Of course, ten years later there had to be updates and the choices of Heigl, Shepherd and Reynolds were spot on.

However,  there is too much of a story to pack into less than two hours and I left very disappointed.  The only people who will enjoy this movie are the ones who have read the books and, like me, will have missed what was left out.

I know that it is impossible to pack seventeen books into one movie and, if they were hoping for sequels  they most surely will not get them.   I think they would have been much better off to have created a television series, gained a following and gone on to the big screen.

I missed Steph and Grandma's visits to the funeral home,  Steph's romances with Morelli and Ranger.  Plus, the characters that were much more colorful than the ones I saw today.  Again, this would have made a entertaining television series but, a major motion picture, not so much.
