So awards season begins and The Descendants is on all the lists. Maybe I was in the wrong frame of mind when I saw it but, it doesn't hold a candle to "The Help".
I suppose George Clooney playing an out of touch father is a stretch for him but, not award worthy. Don't get me wrong he was good. I didn't get bored. The rest of the cast certainly pulled their weight. It just didn't click with me.
To me the best part of the movie was to see a side of Hawaii I had never seen before. Never been there and, the only images I've ever seen of this majestic place have been of landscapes, beaches and resorts. I loved seeing the real neighborhoods showing me that real people live there.
The only feelings the movie stirred with me were an extreme dislike of a woman who lay dying.
