THE LUCKY ONE

I waiting for the day that it comes out that Nicholas Sparks is not a heterosexual father of five.  What man is this romantic?  If he acts the way he writes, his wife must come home to candlelight daily.  I have read all of his books and, seen all the ones that became movies.

The Lucky One is the latest in the world's most romantic man's empire.  I especially loved the book and could not wait to watch the movie.  The movie delivered and was true to the book.  Not destined to become a classic but, certainly worth seeing.  Or, maybe I was just blinded by Zac Efron.  If he keeps it up he will truly be the Tom Cruise of his generation.  I've read reviews that Zac was too short to be a marine but, Tom was too short to be a fighter pilot.  Ah, the magic of movies.

The rest of the Lucky cast was pretty much as I pictured from the book.  Taylor Schilling was perfect for the part.  I had never heard of her.  Blythe Danner, always a delight, was a bit younger than the Grandma I imagined.  The rest of the cast also worked well.

My only problem is that Sparks' books are always set around New Bern, NC and, I couldn't figure out why it was necessary to move to Louisiana.  All and all a good movie worth the price of admission if only to look at Efron.
