No better history lesson than a Clint Eastwood film starting Leonardo DiCaprio about a man who died while I was in my teens. Of course, I had heard of J. Edgar Hoover then but, it wasn't until I was much older that I knew he was gay. I later learned of his conflict with Bobby Kennedy.
The movie was a splendid story, historically correct and, brought life to a man I knew little about. DiCaprio, as always, was amazing as were his equally talented co-stars Judi Dench and Naomi Watts. It was yet another role for Armie Hammer that lets us know he is here to stay.
I loved the cinematography and the attention to detail. DiCaprio and Watts were unrecognizable as the film aged them. However, someone should have spent more time on Hammer's makeup because as an old man he looked like he had on a mask.
