Had the choice of seeing "The Artist", "Iron Lady" or this movie today. This one was picked because I'm skeptical about a silent movie and the reviews I've read says Meryl Streep's performance is the best part of the latter. Plus, who can go wrong with Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock?
It has been a very long time since a movie stayed with me for days after seeing it. I just knew that this one would be it. However, it was a disappointment. I expected a well of emotions from a story that I knew was about 9/11 and a boy losing his father as a result.
Thomas Horn who played the boy in his movie debut was amazing and there is no doubt that he has a long acting career ahead. Hanks and Bullock were on top of their game. An exceptional supporting cast and an adapted screen play from a great book were just not enough to invoke that "stay with you" feeling. I didn't cry, didn't care and, I can't quite figure out why.
